Cookies & storage

The cookie banner distinguishes three categories:

• Necessary storage – always on, because the website would not work properly without it.
• External media – YouTube videos and Spotify previews; off by default.
• Visit statistics – cookieless statistics with Cloudflare Web Analytics; off by default.

Most values are kept in your browser’s local storage (localStorage or sessionStorage) and are not sent to us automatically. The server sets actual cookies only for maintenance mode, the organizer area and the band’s administration area.

• unexpected-fall-locale – selected language (local, until you clear it)
• unexpected-fall-theme – selected light mode (local, until you turn it off)
• unexpected-fall-cookies – your cookie banner choice (local, until you change or clear it)
• uf-consent-withdrawn-note – one-time note after you withdraw visit statistics (current session only, removed when the page reloads)
• uf-lyrics-text-size – display preference for lyrics (local)
• uf-player-volume – chosen volume of the preview and video players (current session only, removed when the tab is closed)
• maintenance-access – HttpOnly cookie, only in maintenance mode after entering the access password; valid for up to 12 hours
• uf_veranstalter – signed HttpOnly session cookie, only in the organizer area (/veranstalter) after entering an access code; valid at the longest until the code expires, and at most 7 days for a code without an expiry date; removed when you sign out
• Sign-in and language settings for the administration area (cookies and local storage) – band members only

YouTube videos are embedded via youtube-nocookie.com and previews on the music and lyrics pages load directly from Spotify – both only once you allow external media. Without consent you see a notice in their place with the option to allow them.

After consent, YouTube (Google) or Spotify receive technical data such as your IP address; the YouTube player may store its own data in your browser. See the privacy policy for details.

On the contact and booking pages your browser loads a Cloudflare Turnstile script when the page opens, to detect automated submissions. This check is needed to send the form and therefore runs without a choice in the cookie banner; Cloudflare receives technical data such as your IP address and browser and device details. If you prefer to avoid this, email us directly at info@unexpectedfall.ch.

With your consent, the website loads the Cloudflare Web Analytics script. It counts page views and referrers and, according to Cloudflare, sets no cookies.

With the same consent, the website also stores:

• unexpected-fall-attribution – campaign details and the name of the referring website for the current session; only sent along with a contact or booking enquiry

Ordinary links to streaming services, social networks, or ticket sellers do not load any content from those providers before you click them.

You can allow or decline external media and visit statistics separately and change your choice at any time. Withdrawal applies for the future. If you withdraw visit statistics, the stored campaign details are deleted and the page reloads.
